Well, I got my Betta, Soleece at Petco. But she was the ONLY pretty one, I reccomend buying him at a fish store, unlike , it SPECIALIZES in fish, not ALL pets. But sometimes at fish stores they’re really ugly. I reccomend checking the FISH store first, if no fish spark your , try PETSMART, then petco. BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! try all stores BEFORE buying a fish, then once you’ve seen all the fish, go back to the store you liked best and buy your little guy there. and as for the playing, i reccomend taking a stick or rod (by stick I mean something MANMADE! So try a chopstick or a spoon handle) and waving in around in the water and encourage your fish to chase it, put a pea or some frozen brine shrimp on a string and let him chase that (when he’s had enough, give him the shrimp (bloodworms and pellets work as well) You may use a laser pointer. My fish absolutely LOVEZ LOVEZ LOVEZ LOVEZ, betta fish excersize mirror, go to your fish store or petstore and ask for a floating ex cersize mirror. Your fish will challenge it’s reflection believing it’s another fishy. REMEMBER, ONLY LEAVE THE MIRROR IN FOR 5 MIN. AT A TIME, KEEP CLOSE WATCH OVER YOUR FISH, IT MAY BE TOO AGGRESSIVE AND RIP HIS FINS. RINSE IN HOT WATER BEFORE PUTTING IN TANK. IT MAY TAKE A WHILE FOR YOUR GUY TO GET USED TO THE MIRROR. it is my first reply on this website and firstly I would like to thank you for the great quality information, which I were able to find in this and all previous posts , it really helped me a lot. You can play follow-the-leader with your betta. All you have to do is use your finger to attract them and they follow your finger. My betta’s name is Sam. It is a female. She’s blue and has black and white stripes at the bottom of her. She’s small and extremely cute. I will be hoping to send a couple pics soon.
