Well yesterday I cleaned out his bowl and when I put him back in he just wouldn't swim he hid behing a tree and wouldn't move and he was like that for the rest of the night. Today when I came back from my class I went to feed him and I couldn't find him and I looked on the side and he had jumped out (don't worry he's still alive) I put him back in the bowl and now hes not swimming again and he's just laying at the bottom of his bowl. any advise I what to do? I have a sick betta...he has enlarged gills and i treated him with bettafix for a bacterial infection(he had raised scales which are better) but his gills are still swollen and he is breathing rapidly. Ots been almost two weeks. Is it possible that he has a parasite affecting his gills? I just started to treat him with maracyn 2 but it only looks like his gills are getting worse. He is laying on the bottom of the water on his side and only comes up for air and then goes back down to the bottom. I have a filter without the carbon in. Should I maybe use coppersafe? If you have any recommendations I would greatly apppreciate it. Maybe someone can help.
