I have two each in their own 5 gallon tank and my crowntail jumped out of the feedhole I had accidently left open without me noticing. He was dead and dried by time I noticed he was missing from his tank. He had sat on the glass of the desk for who knows how long and propped himself up. I was so traumatized thinking of how long he must had sat there breathing air but slowly dehydrating. Rotten experience. Don't let it happen to your betta.

My betta fish jumped out because a fly landed in his bowl. He must have went crazy but he jumped out and landed in my school bag. I hope he makes it. We went to Pet Express and they told me to get Stress Zyme and Maracyn. I have put both in the tank, removed the fly first, and hope my fish gets better real soon. He is swimming around but his fins are still not right yet, and he's not himself.

My betta fish (female veiltail) jumped out of her cup while I was changing the tank water. I left her unattended for 40 minutes (the longest I left her in a cup). I bought her from petco on aug 10, 2011, and she was recovering from what looked like finrot. But ever since she jumped out, I noticed her body has discolored. The side which she landed on the ground (from dresser to floor ~2.5-3 ft) is blackened including around her eye. But her eyes are still clear, just dark around the one that was against the floor. As for color, it seems she has faded. Her fins were clumpy upon initial introduction back into the tank but are a little better now. I don't know if she has developed more severe finrot due to lack of water because the edges look dark. I have had her in a quarantine jar for 2 days now. Is it okay to put her in the tank or should I wait to be sure she is healthy again? She still eats and is now swimming. What can I do to ensure she fully recovers? Do I need to buy medication? Will her color be restored and is the darkening a bruise or is it necrosis? I really want to put her back in the tank, but at the same time am afraid she may die and contaminate everything in it. Please help. Thank you.

Ive have several bettas that liked to jump out of their bowls. One of them jumped out three times and then died at the age of 5. Any bowls i get either are tall and i fill the water about halfway or I get them with lids on them so they dont jump out!
