Betta Profile: Halfmoon
![]() |
In the Halfmoon tail type, when fully flared, the caudal should be a full 180-degree half-circle. This is due to an increased amount of ray branching. If the tail is larger than 180 degrees, it is known as “Over Halfmoon”. These tails are symmetrical and very heavy.

This is the type of fish I got at the pet store. Only the lady who worked there said they were called Delta Tails, not a halfmoon betta.

You probably have a male, if it has big pretty fins and you ogt it at your average pet store it is male.
We used to have females, none of my friends even believed they were female because they didn’t look much like a betta.
I also can’t remember where we got them. My dad used to breed fish. I have never seen a pet store that carries female bettas. No one wats them they are not quite as pretty.
Though I thought they were amazing

lol I’ve been told Males are more prettier, and more colors and are bigger. =)
Females are smaller and have less color, and not long tails like males. =)
All my life I’ve only had males. X)
